The ARC would like to appoint a competent and experienced service provider that will supply, install and commission an integrated system of generators and solar systems as per the scope of work.

The generators and solar panels must be commissioned and tested for functionality to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the event of a power outage.

Scope of work: Supply two generators and an integrated solar system:

  • One 450KVA New Diesel Generator open set at the Irene hatchery building
    • 1 X 1: Solar backup System with a capacity of 450 kVA for the Irene hatchery building
  •  One 450KVA New Diesel Generator open set at Kgora in Mahikeng

The proposed solar system size is 450kVA and a Battery Energy Storage System compatible with the 450KVA requirement. The life expectancy of the system is 10 years. The system must be in compliance with the relevant occupational health and safety systems and environmental requirements.

The energy generated from the solar system will not exceed the campus’ consumption; thus, no electricity will be exported to the Eskom grid, and this is per national regulations. The load must not exceed the solar system capacity to avoid power cuts and inverter damages.
