The prospective service provider will be expected to transfer water from the adjacent Nahoon River to the field for irrigation purposes, using the items listed below:

  • Main water supply at river—A solar PV pump and motor 14m³/hr (pump 1) in a brick/concrete housing (house 1), with 4 x 270W solar panels on a steel structure.
    • Standard / Typical Pump pressure of approximately 2 – 4 bar with the aim to achieve a water pump flow of approximately 14m³/hr, this pump is transferring water from the river to the Jojo tanks.
    • Ground-mounted steel structure for the solar panels.
    • All electrical components and solar DC cable and irrigation control box.
  • 200m pipe (HDPE – Class 6,75mm) and including fittings with sand filter and installation from the river to the Jojo tanks.
  • Jojo water tanks 5 x 10,000L with mechanical float valves and a concrete slab of 50m², including an anchor mechanism of the tanks firmly to the slab.
  • Main water supply at field—Solar PV pump and motor 14 m³/hr (pump 2) in a brick/concrete housing (house 2), with 4 x 270W solar panels on a steel structure:
    • Standard / Typical Pump pressure of approximately 2 – 4 bar with the aim to achieve a water pump flow of approximately 14m³/hr; this pump is for irrigating the field.
    • A manual water meter is required to determine the consumption of irrigation water for the 5ha area.
    • Compatible highly effective water filter unit.
    • Dosatron D9GL2 in-line fertigation unit (injector type) with 500L max capacity fertigation stock tank and related components.
    • Ground-mounted steel structure for the solar panels.
    • All electrical components and solar DC cable and irrigation control box.
  • Pressure compensated driplines, irrigation pipes of a 17mm outside diameter (Netafim UniRam AS XR, wall thickness of 1.2mm, dripper spacing of 30cm) for a 5ha area capable of delivering water at 1.6 L/hr, including all the necessary pipe works, fittings, sub-mains, hydrants, and components suitable for irrigating the 5ha area with 300,000 plants (plant density is 60,000 plants/ha) [see Annexure H for the irrigation layout].
  • Fencings and razor wire security around the solar panels and pump houses, etc.
  • The prospective service provider must provide a design of the irrigation system specific to this site together with a bill of quantities.
