If minority rights organisation AfriForum has its way, long queues to renew expired drivers’ licence cards may become a thing of the past and as a bonus, those fines you received for driving with an expired licence may also be determined to be invalid.

AfriForum’s case against the minister of transport, Road Traffic Management Authority, and Road Traffic Infringement Authority, is due to be heard in the Pretoria High Court in August, and if they are successful, frustrated road users may just be spared having to deal with the tedious task of having to renew their licences every five years.
