Many of the expenses bear telltale signs of tender corruption. At one house in Kenilworth in Cape Town, more than R1.4 million was spent on renovating the kitchen. At a house in Waterkloof in Pretoria, the state paid more than R400 000 to fumigate to get rid of cockroaches. At least R54 000 was paid to replace a broken curtain rail at a house in Waterkloof Ridge in the capital city.
