The Gauteng High Court has annulled the controversial contract with IDEMIA for printing driving licences, mandating the Department of Transport to re-advertise the tender within 30 days.

The Gauteng North High Court found this week that the tender for a new machine to print “secure” cards, won by IDEMIA Identity and Security SA in August 2024, was “irregular, invalid, unlawful and unenforceable”.
