Former energy minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson, who died on Monday, faced allegations of extortion – with the National Assembly announcing on the day she died that the allegations would be investigated.
Two weeks ago, reports surfaced that Joemat-Pettersson had allegedly asked for a bribe from David Skosana, the husband of suspended Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, to make the Section 194 inquiry investigating Mkhwebane’s fitness to hold office go away.
Joemat-Pettersson served as a member of the committee.
