The Nelson Mandela Bay coalition partners will meet on Tuesday to debate whether steps should be taken to remove the city manager, Noxolo Nqwazi, from her position.

This follows renewed calls by the EFF for her removal and comes against the backdrop of one of the demands made by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana before he disburses the more than R700 million in grant funding owed to the municipality.

Nqwazi faces charges of fraud, corruption and the contravention of the Municipal Finance Management Act following her alleged involvement in a toilet tender contract of more than R24 million that was allegedly fraudulently awarded by the municipality two years ago.
