Smart driving licences in SA delayed again

The launch of new smart driver’s licence cards in SA has been further delayed after the auditor-general (AG) found several irregularities in the tender process.

SA’s sole card machine printing licences has repeatedly broken down and caused backlogs, and was to have been replaced with new equipment producing cards that had security features aimed at eliminating the risk of fraud and counterfeits…
